Recording IP Camera

 

Objective: A regional client that services security equipment for the banking industry wanted to develop an IP based camera that could capture and save both surveillance and event based images. The camera was unique in that it also would interface to an ATM and provide image retrieval software based on ATM transaction information.

 

Result: Original Technology worked closely with the client to identify their key needs. Although there are plenty of IP cameras on the market, this particular client wanted to include some unique capabilities, ones that had not been previously been addressed, that would allow him to not only penetrate the market, but dominate it.

 

Using the latest TI DaVinci technology, the product utilized the DM365 processor to capture and compress video from a CCD image sensor using a ITU-656 interface. A proprietary memory storage algorithm was developed that allows up to 60 days of video storage to be recorded on a single 64GB SD card. To provide a seamless interface to the ATM, the design included a 3 port Ethernet switch that incorporated port mirroring and auto sense capability. By supporting both an external 12-24 Volt AC/DC power supply and POE, the installation of the camera was greatly simplified. In addition to monitoring for ATM and video events, the camera also provides USB, RS-232 and alarm contact interfaces to support a wide verity of installations and applications.

 

In addition to designing the hardware, Original Technology developed the software based on a embedded Linux framework. The software provides for IP, TCP, HTTP, RTCP & FTP protocols and does all the video database management and alarm monitoring in a real time environment.

 

By providing a complete turn-key design and taking the product from conception thru production, Original Technology enabled the client to stay focused on marketing and sales.
